Tony Frissore Celebrates Lunar New Year With Lo-Fi Reggae Single “Island Lantern Festival”

Tony Frissore marks the Lunar New Year with the release of his new single, “Island Lantern Festival,” arriving February 17. The track blends relaxed lo-fi textures with gentle reggae rhythms to create a reflective yet uplifting soundscape. It evokes the glow of lanterns drifting through tropical nights, offering a mood that is both grounded and transportive. The release is timed to coincide with Lunar New Year celebrations, a season associated with renewal, prosperity, and shared light. Rather than relying on spectacle, the track channels the spirit of the holiday through mood and texture, creating a modern, cross-cultural sound that feels intimate and timeless.

Built around soft percussion, flowing flutes, and subtle global influences, “Island Lantern Festival” is designed for moments of quiet reflection, late-night listening, or personal celebration. The reggae-inspired rhythm adds a sunlit sway beneath the lo-fi foundation, giving the track a warmth that complements its contemplative tone. It reflects Frissore’s ongoing interest in blending genres, rhythms, and textures to create music that is both emotive and thoughtful.

Frissore has spent years refining this approach. Educated in Boston and New Orleans, he developed a deep appreciation for funk, jazz, and improvisational performance before spending time in Europe working with DJs and club owners. Today, he performs with the band Pop Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio. His music has been featured on MTV, Discovery, TLC, HGTV, OWN, and DIY Network, and has been Shazamed in over 150 countries.

His discography spans multiple styles and formats. Frissore’s first EDM mix, The Übermix, arrived in 2008, followed by several hip-hop singles in 2012 and the album Black Market Mix in 2019. During quarantine, he released the down-tempo Quarantine Chronicles, and he has continued releasing singles through 2025 and 2026, beginning the year with Four Walls. Each project reflects his focus on rhythm, feel, and message, aiming to entertain while provoking thought.
