As Vancouver Fashion Week (VFW) kicks off today, the city once again becomes a vibrant meeting point for global fashion talent. For over two decades, VFW has been a driving force in championing Canadian designers while amplifying international voices, cementing its place as one of the world’s most inclusive fashion showcases.
Now entering its 24th year, the Spring/Summer 2026 season continues this legacy—bringing together over 45 designers from more than 10 countries. The event’s multicultural focus and commitment to discovery have earned it international recognition, offering both renowned designers and emerging names a platform to share their vision, build global connections, and expand their media reach.
“At Vancouver Fashion Week, diversity is our greatest strength,” says Jamal Abdourahman, founder of VFW. “We bring together incredible design talent from across Canada and the world to present forward-thinking creative concepts to the industry. Fashion is truly global—and it’s inspiring to see so many perspectives come together under one roof here in Vancouver.”
This year’s lineup reflects a world of craft, culture, and conscious design. From Japan, Kizasi Aizawa delivers refined artistry, while Empromo presents hand-printed pieces rooted in tradition. Sustainability takes center stage with upcycled collections from FLAKE, Remake Innovation Project, and NITENMON, highlighting the creative possibilities of ethical fashion. Meanwhile, Valley’s Lily reimagines ready-to-wear kimono silhouettes, and kitakunoshishuuya elevates detail through intricate embroidery.
On the Canadian front, Threads by Thea brings traditional Kahnawà:ke craftsmanship to the runway, and atira x EWMA merges fashion with activism in a bold local collaboration. SKYE Apparel & Accessories embodies quiet luxury through sustainable tailoring, while avant-garde names like tunggiya, Katerina Palme, and Pauline Blind push the boundaries of artistic expression. From the UAE, MJ Abaya Line by Mouza Jarwan celebrates contemporary femininity through elegant abayas, and Japan’s ANAHATAU bridges cultures with hand-sewn designs inspired by Indian heritage.
Vancouver’s own design community shines brightly this season with couture creations from Eduardo Ramos and Fefe Couture, alongside the whimsical imagination of ALEX S. YU. Edmonton’s Augusta Fashion & Textiles offers inclusive, minimalist ready-to-wear, and The Cut Fashion School spotlights the next generation of Canadian talent. Rounding out the global showcase are DADA’s nostalgic silhouettes, Dr.Y&K’s casual unisex pieces, and JEPH YUTING’s experimental edge from China.
The Spring/Summer 2026 program will feature 23 designers across five days, each presenting a distinct take on contemporary fashion. From avant-garde minimalism to modern couture, every collection embodies VFW’s mission: to celebrate diversity, identity, and innovation within a rapidly evolving global industry.
